After a few fun days in NYC working, seeing old friends, and getting a little haircut, courtesy of my buddy Terry Richardson…

…we headed to London!

I’m writing from the train to snowy Nottingham (insert clever Robin Hood
reference) in the UK for the very first show of INTO THE WILD and
although we’re a bit jetlagged and bit more exhausted, we couldn’t be
more excited about our first arena tour. Never in a million years did
we imagine this. Very very grateful.
We spent the last two days doing final rehearsals and are still
plotting and planning. Def a lot of last min things to finish up (in
typical Mars style). No warm up show here….the first show is sold out
and will be packed with 8000 people! Fun.

J'écris dans le train pour un Nottingham enneigé (insérer une référence intelligente à Robin des Bois) au Royaume-Uni pour notre tout premier concert de Into The Wild et même si nous sommes un peu jetlagués et un petit peu plus épuisés, nous ne pourrions pas être plus excités pour cette première tournée d'arênes. Jamais en 1 million d'années nous avions imaginé ça. Vraiment vraiment reconnaissant.

Nous avons passé les deux derniers jours à faire les répétitions finales et nous continuons à chercher et planifier. Sans aucun doute beaucoup de choses de dernière minute à finir (dans un style marsiens typique). Pas de concert d'échauffement ici... le premier concert est complet et sera rempli avec 8000 personnes !

Been
truckin around the UK and Wales and the shows have been incredible so
far. So grateful to all of you who have come and spent your nights with
us. Can’t wait to come back!
I took the train to Manchester on Saturday afternoon.

At night
over 11,000 people showed up to make it our biggest show so far. My
friend and amazing designer Lina Osterman made these jeans for me which
are a LOT more comfortable than they look.

And for those of you who missed the show, this is what our set list looked like.

After the
show I went in to check out the arena and see what a mess we made but
we have an amazing crew and the evidence was gone in no time.

We played
some old songs tonight in Cardiff from the very first record. I did
Echelon acoustic from the balcony high above everyone on the floor. And
then we all played Buddha for Mary from the B stage. It was like seeing
long lost friends. Fun.
This Is War has really been one of the high points in the set. This is what it looked like from our soundboard tonight.

It was one
of our hard workin gtr techs’ bday…we called him to the dressing room
for an “emergency meeting” instead of a “sit down” he got a cake!

Searched
high and low to no avail for bday candles but luckily at the last min
we found one in our dressing room. Vanilla scented too.
One more day till Wembley!
P.S. We’re en route to London with our camera guy riding in the luggage bay for some reason…long story!

Either a cute little jet or a tiny fuckin’ plane!

They start speaking French on the plane immediately, which made for a nice transition and
a reminder that it is the end of one mind-blowing chapter and the beginning of another. I could write for hours about the journey so far but the first part of the tour has taken us on an
epic adventure through Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, London, Dublin, and Glasgow. And
although it’s only been 5 shows it feels as though we have been lost in the best of daydreams
for quite some time. Here are some highlights:

This says it all. Me after running into the stands at Wembley!

I wish I could thank every single person who came to the shows so far. We never felt so much
energy and passion and excitement. It’s gone far beyond our expectations and we are truly
humbled. Can’t wait to come back again and see you all. And we promise we will! Unforgettable!!!!
See you all at the Tinthepark, Oxygen, and Download festivals in a few months!
Meanwhile back in the good ol USofA… we put tickets on sale for our very first official tour in
3 YEARS!!! INTOTHEWILD is crisscrossing North America (yes, you too Toronto) and the response has
been incredible. Most presales + VIP packages are either sold out or close to it and it looks
like many venues will sell out immediately so if you plan on coming get your tickets FAST!
(Thank you so much to everyone who has gotten tickets already its going to be insane!) It has been far too long and we are psyched to see you all again. Can’t wait for you all to hear
the new songs live and see this show we have been working on. It’s been nothing but phenomenal
