Traduction en anglais:
„I don’t care what others think about me”

He is an actor, songwriter, guitarist, singer, screenwriter, video
clip director, environmental activist, photographer and artist: One cuts
his axe into a big tree, if he tries to introduce Jared shortly.
Nowadays, he is one of the most important male star, who never gives up.
He worked hard for the success. You may hate him or love him, but one
thing is sure: it’s worth to follow his example…

Family idyll vs. chaos
Jared was a kiddie, when his parents divorced: he and his brother were
entrusted to the supervision of their mother, Constance. “My father soon
remarried, and from that marriage two sons were born. We weren’t kept
in touch and a few years after that he stepped down, he died.” – he
said. They could hardly made a living from his mother’s salary, so when
Jared was 12 years old, he went out charring. He was scullion/dishwasher
in a fast food restaurant and worked as a doorman in a motel. Next to
his study, he earned his own pocket money with work and even a little
bit more, but he had almost time for nothing else. “My mother has always
supported, if we showed our creativity in art. Somehow we were always
in the company of musicians, actors, photographers or visual artists.
There were no limits. One thing was important: to express our thoughts,
our emotions”, he remembered.

Peaceful background vs. traveling circus
“My maternal grandfather was in the Air Force and since he often
transferred to newer and newer naval base, that’s why we had to move a
lot and it was difficult to imagine making deeper friendships”, he
confessed. Of course, it was impossible to establish a band and by
accident he brought to life 30 Seconds to Mars with his brother,
Shannon. The frequent moving affected his scholastic record. In an
interview he said, he had to change school at least 4 times and he had
nowhere enough time to fit in, or to endear himself with the teachers so
had disadvantages against others. “Finally I won a place at
Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. It seemed that I would became
a(n) artist/painter but meanwhile I began to interested in acting, so I
transferred to New York School of Visual Arts’s film section. In this
time, I made my first short film, “Crying Joy”, he said.
Image king vs. real actor
In 1992, he decided that he wants to make films and he moved to Los
Angeles. At first, he played minor roles, than the stake increased more
and more – for example in the “My So Called Life” he played with Claire
Danes. For some years, it had seemed to be unable to break out from the
TV star role, and the major film producers and directors – who cast the
important roles – wouldn’t take him seriously as a good-looking guy. In
1996 and 1997, the People magazine voted him to the “50 Sexiest Star”’s
list and he was at the forefront between Hollywood’s most desirable solo
men. “It would have been the easiest way, if I play in romantic movies
especially for women. There were plenty of offers, but I knew that if I
avoid the really challenging roles, than there won’t be any chance to
prove: I am a good actor!”

Soul vs. body
In 1997, he received his first serious role in his life, he started to
prepare hardcore. In the film, “Prefontaine” he modeled the legendary
runner. “I learned to imitate his running style, his tone and his
gestures as well”, he remembered. When Prefontaine’s sister, Linda
watched the film, she began to cry, because Jared resembled so much to
his brother, who was dead for 20 years! “Requiem for a Dream”’s
preparation time had a brutal end, too: he lived in New York’s streets
for weeks and he abstained from sex for 2 months. (After the shooting,
he moved to Portugal and spent months in a monastery, where he recovered
physically and mentally.) The situation was similar in 2007, in case of
“Chapter 27”, in which he formed John Lennon’s killer, Mark David
Chapman. He gained more than 30 kilos, so he ate only unhealthy things:
including microwave heated ice cream mixed with soy sauce and before he
went to bed, he drank olive oil. Due to the sudden weight gain, it
forced him to a wheelchair for some time, because his legs couldn’t
stood his weight!

Expectations vs. challenges
Although in „The Thin Red Line” he played with superstars like Sean
Penn, Nick Nole or Adrien Brody and they got 7 Oscar nominations, but
the box-office hit fell. In „Fight Club” he was hit to unrecognizable,
and in the rough and depressive „Requiem for a Dream”, he shocked the
audience as a massive heroin addict. In „Panic Room” he bullied his
victim, Jodie Foster as a psychopath and in the provocative, “Black and
White” he played a gay high school teacher – these kind of roles don’t
fit at all into the image that girls imagine about one of the man of
“Top 50 Sexiest Man” list… ”If I have interested to serve the fans, I
would have built my career in a total different way! The truth is – and
maybe that’s why many people think that, I am a jerk – I don’t care what
others think about me. I’m not a robot, who does what other adjusted in
him!” he said.

Film vs. music
He established 30 Seconds to Mars at that time, when his actor career
began to go up. “Ever since I can remember, I write songs, play the
guitar and sing. My brother started to play the drum when he was 5 years
old and he is still exercising 4-6 hour per a day. When we decided that
we play together, we practised for 2 years, we had 2 guitarists, and
then we found Tomo, who was the perfect choice!”, he told. Jared didn’t
slack the filming, because it was his number one income source, whereby
he financed his band which runs only from passion. It’s quite rare that
someone do his both professions in a high level. He succeeded.

Hurricane vs. censure
One of the greatest song’s video clip from the latest album blew the
fuse at the censors. Many scenes of the sometimes shocking, provocative
video were cut because many music channels were willing to broadcast in
this way. “I don’t understand why because either of the news channels
show more violence and horror, moreover you can see more brutal things
at the streets daylight!”, commented Jared, who flashed again as a
director.

Did you know? #1 (Yellow-red bubble in the middle of the 2nd page)
Jared directed “Beautiful Lie”’s video as Angakok Panipaq. From the
video’s proceeds – which was shooted on Greenland’s dwindling ice field –
they supported the Natural Resources Defense Council

Jared and women (Black box)
- He started to dating with Cameron Diaz in 1999, and they got into
engagement. The relationship ended in 2003. (After that Cameron had a
relationship with Justin Timberlake…)
- According to the rumours he had a short romance with the porno actor, Corina Taylor.
- Britney Spears like the same type of guys, like Cameron – see: Jared
& Justin. None of them spoke about it, but some says, in 2003 there
was something between them.
- He dated with Scarlett Johansson for a year.
- In 2005, he was with Ashley Olsen for a short time, and then in 2008 he tried to heat up their relationship with less success.
- He had Paris Hilton, too: In 2008, on the Sundance Film Festival, they were photographed during kissing.
- During this summer, he dated with the models, Nina Senicar and katharina Damm.

Did you know? #2 (Yellow-red bubble in the bottom of the 2nd page)
In the song of “Hurricane” he sang a duet with Kanye West. But due to
legal issues, they didn’t put the hip-hop star’s parts to the record,
just to the deluxe edition.
